Episode 19: Convergence Theatre, new klezmer tradition(s)

This week on radio613, an interview with Julie Tepperman and Aaron Willis, the duo behind Convergence Theatre and the play Yichud (Seclusion).  Yichud has been performed at the Lab Cab, Ashkenaz, and Fringe Festivals in Toronto since 2008. Harold Green Jewish Theatre and Theatre Passe Muraille are co-producing tan extended version of Yichud to be performed beginning in February 2010.

The second half of the show features a radio613 interview with Klezmer musicians/thinkers Michael Winograd, Daniel Blacksberg, and Henry Sapoznik. The discussion explores paths paved by communities of musicians seeking new forms of expression rooted in traditional culture and sound. Songs from Klezmer Conservatory Band, Michael Winograd and Khevre.
